Kingman native honored for his work on parks


Kingman native and park designer Merrill Kieffer had a lake in Henderson, Nev., named in his memory Saturday at the grand opening of Cornerstone Park, which he designed. Kieffer died in 2012.

The late Merrill Kieffer, a longtime Kingman resident who was a respected landscape architect for the city of Henderson, Nev., was honored Saturday when Henderson held a grand opening for Cornerstone Park.

The key attraction of the 100-acre park is a 31-acre lake that Henderson officials christened Merrill Kieffer Lake at Cornerstone Park.
