Military confirms death of soldier with local ties

KINGMAN - The Department of Defense confirmed Tuesday the deaths of two soldiers in Afghanistan, including one man with ties to Kingman.
Sgt. Brian L. Walker, 25, of Lucerne Valley, Calif., and Pfc. Richard L. McNulty III, 22, of Rolla, Mo., were killed May 13 in Bowri Tana, Afghanistan, when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
Walker is married to 2008 Kingman High School graduate Ashley Caswell-Walker, who is a U.S. Army Corporal. At the time of their wedding in Dec. 2010, the couple was living in Fayetteville, N.C., where they were both serving at Fort Bragg.
The U.S. Army Public Affairs Office said Walker joined the Army in July 2007. He had one previous deployment to Afghanistan from May 2009 to May 2010.
The Department of Defense said that at the time of their deaths, the soldiers, both military policemen, were assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
