Short film seeking extras for downtown Kingman project

KINGMAN - Calling all prospective actors and actresses.

Producer Tina Lopez, a Kingman resident for 20 years, is holding auditions Wednesday and Thursday for extras in an upcoming short movie that will be filmed in Kingman. Open auditions are scheduled from 5-8 p.m. each evening at Beale Street Brews Coffee House, 418 E. Beale St., and participants are encouraged to bring a resume and photograph.

Filming will take place at the end of June and the movie will debut Oct. 17-20 at the Laughlin International Film Festival in Nevada.

"If you've ever wanted to be in movies, this is your chance," said Lopez. "It's your opportunity to get your face out there in the movie industry. You never know when you might get discovered. This is a fun experience and it's neat to see yourself on the big screen when the movie comes out."

The film, called "Dream Date," features two Kingman High School graduates, Isaac Lopez, 22, and Angela Williams, 19, and Hollywood actor Danny Trejo, who has parts in "Sons of Arnachy," "Counterpunch," "Machete Kills" and "Violet & Daisy." Isaac Lopez now lives in Los Angeles and is an extra in "Hangover 3," which comes out this month.

"Dream Date" tells the story of a young man, played by Isaac Lopez, who breaks up with his girlfriend and meets another young woman, played by Williams, at a local coffee shop. The two fall in love and have a life together in the young woman's dream. In reality, the movie has a surprise ending. Trejo plays a bartender.

Tina Lopez said she was hired this year as producer for director Brian Brown's new movie and is responsible for finding film locations and raising funds. Lopez said she got involved in films when her son, Isaac Lopez, met Brown in Bullhead City and acted in "Choices," which won last year at the Laughlin International Film Festival. Lopez said filming will take place at the coffee house, The Cellar Door, 414 E. Beale St., and the Powerhouse, 120 W. Andy Devine Ave.

Lopez said she is looking for about 30 unpaid extras. Some, between the ages of 18 to 40 years, will be in scenes inside the coffee house and outside on the street. Others should be younger, between the ages of 21 to 30 years, for scenes inside the club. Also, Lopez is seeking two extras for speaking parts - one is a male bar patron and the other is a female coffee house waitress. Filming will last several days, she added.

For more information, call Tina Lopez at (928) 279-4457.
