KINGMAN - Golden Valley resident Butch Meriwether is the featured artist for June at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts, 400 W. Beale St.
The museum will display more than 70 of Meriwether's donated photographs. Most were taken in Mohave County and all will be offered for sale as a fundraising effort, with half donated to the museum and half donated to the domestic animal rescue shelter and sanctuary For The Luv Of Paws in Golden Valley.
Meriwether began his journalistic and photographic career during the early 1970s while he was serving in the United States Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant in the Corps' public relations field.
He has worked as an editor of three different newspapers, traveled for the Marines as a photojournalist and has garnered numerous local and national awards for both journalism and photography.
Butch retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1984 and then worked as a private investigator and freelance journalist for 18 years in California and Washington.
He has resided in Golden Valley since he relocated to Arizona in 2002 after a four-year stint in Washington.
He is active in journalism and photography as a hobby and continues his freelance photojournalism career by helping various businesses, as well as charitable, political and fraternal organizations.
His articles, commentaries and photographs have been widely published in local and state media and national publications, and he has a blog, "Butch's Brew," on the Kingman Daily Miner's website.
