The treasurer of the Kingman chapter of the Shrine Club was arrested Monday afternoon amid allegations he stole about $17,000 from the benevolent organization over the past four years.
William Walton Munger III, 42, of Kingman was taken into custody at about 12:30 p.m. following an interview with Mohave County Sheriff's detectives.
He reportedly told club officials he "had some misuse of funds and planned to pay the money back," according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter.
The investigation began Nov. 19 when an attorney for the Shrine Club headquarters in Phoenix advised detectives that an audit recovered evidence that Munger made unauthorized purchases and withdrawals.
