Woman in strange Dolan Spring shooting remains in a coma; suspects indicted


July 10 incident started with a reported burglary

KINGMAN - Two Kingman men who allegedly stole a rifle from a home in Dolan Springs that led to a mysterious shooting July 10 were indicted on felony counts Thursday when the Mohave County Grand Jury convened in Superior Court.

Justin Wayne Thompson, 28, and Michael Blaine Turner, 23, were taken into custody after a bizarre chain of events that began at about 7 a.m. when a Dolan Springs man reported a burglary and identified Thompson as one of the alleged thieves.

They took a .22 caliber rifle and other items and fled in a red station wagon, A few hours later, deputies responded to another Dolan Springs home after a 24-year-old woman was shot in the stomach. The woman reportedly remains in a coma at a Las Vegas hospital.

According to deputies, the woman and her mother were unloading groceries out of a red station wagon when the rifle, which was in the backseat, allegedly discharged a round that struck the woman, without anyone around to squeeze the trigger.

Thompson and Turner were found on the property and arrested.

The grand jury indicted both men on counts of first-degree burglary, theft and misconduct involving weapons. Neither man has the right to own or possess firearms due to prior felony convictions, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Commissioner Kenneth Gregory will indict the pair at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mohave County jail.

Judge Derek Carlisle was assigned the case.

The grand jury also indicted:

• Kasper Lee Gillespie: Aggravated assault per domestic violence and disorderly conduct involving a weapon per domestic violence.

Judge Rick Williams was assigned the case.

• Annette Marie Leal: Aggravated assault.

Judge Steven Conn was assigned the case.

• Tory Dawn McKinney: Six counts of aggravated DUI, three counts of child abuse per domestic violence and one count of criminal damage.

Carlisle will arraign her at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

• Steven Morgan Yarbrough: Possession of burglary tools, possession of master key and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Garrell Eugene Graham: Two counts of aggravated assault by domestic violence (class 3 felony) and one count of aggravated assault by domestic violence (class 6 felony).

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Michael Lynn Begley Jr.: Unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement vehicle, two counts of criminal damage and knowingly display fictitious plates (misdemeanor).

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Jeremie Wayne McCombs: Aggravated assault by domestic violence and disorderly conduct involving a weapon by domestic violence.

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Luke Anson Malaro: Child abuse by domestic violence.

Williams was assigned the case.

• Bobby Eugene Earls: Two counts of aggravated assault by domestic violence, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of attempted aggravated assault and once count of second-degree escape.

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Miles Arthur Hemmer: Possession of dangerous drugs for sale, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and false reporting to law enforcement (misdemeanor).

Williams was assigned the case.

• Christopher Brook Andrade and Jessica Andrade: Possession of narcotics for sale, five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana and two counts of misconduct involving weapons.

Carlisle was assigned the cases.

• Joseph James Benjamin: Possession of dangerous drugs for sale (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), possession of narcotics for sale, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana.

Williams will arraign him at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

• Kenneth Marshall Hicks, Rebecka Lynn Philpot and Raymond Anthony Martinez: Conspiracy to sell dangerous drugs (methamphetamine), sale of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of dangerous drugs for sale (methamphetamine), three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine) and possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine).

Conn was assigned the cases.

• Christopher Michael Bowen: Possession of dangerous drugs for sale (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), possession of narcotics for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Anthony Martin Schutte: Misconduct involving weapons, possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Williams was assigned the case.

• Dexter Gustavus Curry Jr.: Transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Conn was assigned the case.

• Juan Alfredo Deloera-Escalare: Two counts of forgery.

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Jay Dean Budden Jr.: Unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement vehicle.

Williams was assigned the case.

• Frank Y. Valdez: Possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine). Conn will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. July 28.
