KINGMAN - The 22nd Annual Fun Run kicks off on Friday in Seligman and finishes on Sunday in Topock/Golden Shores.
Expect to see downtown Kingman filled with classic cars, trucks and motorcycles Saturday.
The Kingman Police Department and Mohave County Sheriff's Office are working with organizers to close off Andy Devine Avenue/Route 66 for the Show & Shine. Anonymous judging of the vehicles will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
The Fun Run will spend all day in Kingman. From noon to 4 p.m., entertainment will be provided by the Bill Bailey Band.
The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona is holding the Third Wall of Fame Banquet on Saturday.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. is the buffet dinner, followed at 7 p.m. by keynote speakers.
Mayor John Salem is expected to be present to proclaim May as Route 66 Appreciation Month. After the awards ceremony, there will be a live auction.
Route 66's path through Kingman parallels the railroad tracks that were a key component to the foundation of the city. Beyond taking a blast to the past on the roadways, checkout the Powerhouse Visitor Center for tourist information and gift shop.
For the city, the Fun Run can serve as a cash cow in these economic tough times.
In 2007, Kingman made $25,241 during May from room tax revenue.
