City workers have plenty on their plates after Wednesday’s heavy snows caused a substantial amount of tree damage in Kingman Parks. Fireman’s Park was the hardest hit, with numerous broken branches due to the weight of the snow. Sonny Symmonds is shown Thursday cutting a branch into a more manageable size at Lewis Kingman Park.
KINGMAN - Kingman looked more like the North Pole then a desert Thursday. The unusual weather closed schools and roads, made a mess for motorists and law enforcement, and created a cold but fun-filled day for children. The Las Vegas national weather station reported 3 inches of snow just south of Kingman before nightfall Wednesday.
The Mohave County Flood Control District reported six precipitation alarms at flood-watch stations across the county from 5 a.m. on Wednesday to 5 a.m. on Thursday.
The alarms for heavy precipitation went off between 4 and 10:30 p.m. at Willow Creek and Interstate 40, Big Sandy Wash and I-40, Cedar Hills near Blake Ranch Road and I-40, Greenwood Village east of Hackberry Road, Rock Canyon south of Peach Springs, and U.S. Route 66 east of Peach Springs.
The various sites saw between 1.47 and 2.76 inches of precipitation.
Flood Control reported between less than an inch to 1.27 inches in the city of Kingman area and more than 2 inches at Coyote Pass.
The Arizona Department of Transportation closed the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 93 near the intersection of state Highway 68 and Highway 93 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday due to a number of motorists sliding off the roadway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported six calls for assistance between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m., including two calls for motorists who slid off the road, and 11 accidents on U.S. 95, U.S. 93 and I-40. Three of the accidents resulted in injuries.
DPS listed the primary cause for the accidents as motorists driving too fast to maintain control of their vehicles in the slippery conditions.
The heavy snow and freezing cold forced the Mohave County Sheriff's Office to close Hualapai Mountain Road past milepost 8 to all but local residents with four-wheel drive or vehicles with snow chains.
Diamond Bar Road in Dolan Springs and Meadview was also closed to traffic. Pierce Ferry Road in Dolan Springs and Meadview was open Thursday morning.

I have lived in Wisconsin for half of my life before moving down here to Arizona and I have to say, this brought back memories...I loved it!!! Wish it would snow more here than just one or two days every year?

Your point is well taken, but by using the word "here", implies that you also live in Kingman. How long do you have to live here before you fess up to being from Kingman? It took me about 3 years. Now I am proud of our city.
