KINGMAN - The Patriot Guard Riders organized a large welcome home Saturday for Army Specialist Lee Duay, returning from duty in Iraq.
Eighty-eight motorcycles and 10 vehicles met at Mohave Community College Saturday morning, then rode to Duay's home for a surprise visit - at least for Duay - and a short ceremony.
The Riders consisted of several area groups, including the 66 Riders, Hog Chapter 1061, Kingman and Bullhead City Patriot Guards, Free Masons Riding Club, Leathernecks and more. Civilians and Duay's family were also involved.
In addition, Kingman Police and Fire Department and Mohave County Sheriff's Office officers participated in both the ride and directing traffic for the procession afterwards to Mother Road Harley-Davidson and Route 66 Motor Sports.
Mother Road was hosting its annual customer appreciation day and provided a barbecue lunch in Duay's honor. There, Kingman Mayor John Salem (who also rode in the motorcycle procession earlier) presented a certificate of appreciation to Duay.
