A Golden Valley man was jailed earlier this week for allegedly being more than three times over the legal limit of intoxication when he was stopped for speeding.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies spotted Roy Dean Medlin Sr., 56, as he was driving about 10 miles over the posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour on West Chino Drive around 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Deputies also noticed Medlin's car swerving in and out of the lane, according to Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter.

Medlin reportedly admitted after he was pulled over that he had been drinking.

He had a blood alcohol level of 0.264 percent when he was taken back to the Sheriff's Office for testing, Carter said.

He was booked into the Mohave County Jail on a slew of charges, including:

•Driving under the influence;

• DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08 percent;

• Extreme DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.15 percent and less than 0.20 percent;

• and super extreme DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.20 percent.

Hmmmm, let me see. The easiest way to deal with this is to close ALL of the drive-throughs at liquor stores. Who was the fool who thought driving through to buy liquor was intelligent? Make them get out of the vehicle and walk in, assess their condition before selling them any more and report the make,model and license number of those who are driving under the influence in search of more alcohol. Spare innocent lives and get these fools off the street where they can't hurt other people's families.

sorry to see this article about Roy may he get help now. Thank goodness he was stopped before someone got hurt. He and his family would not be able to handle if someone got hurt. Best of luck to you Roy, you can move forward from this and please do.......

Roy looks happy because he knows one of the Mohave County Judges will give him probation!

At little money will change hands but nobody sees under-the-table transactions.

This kind of stacked charges is ridiculous It leads to plea bargaining - not effective justice. This man was highly irresponsible, as were those who sold him the alcohol. It is a logical given that if he is guiltyof 3X over the limit he is also guilty of 2X and 1X over. They'll just use some of this stuff to make a "deal" and collect some cash in the form of a fine. Charge him with what he did and go from there.

I am glad that the MCSO was on their toes with this one. July 4, 2010, I was hit by a drunk driver on my way to the AVI for the fireworks. It changed my life forever. I am now disabled because of this so I take this very seriously!! It is unfortunately way to common for people to drive drunk in our area. There are to many families devastated by it. Good job MCSO.

This story is all to common all across America. these are the people that take away your wife or child. They appear to be weak but they are strong enough to change your life forever. The liquior Lobby is strong all over the country and stops many laws that would treat these people like the criminals that they really are. Living in a rural area makes this problem even worse. Drive Safe. It really matters.
