Letter: The self-destructive GOP

From Day 1 of Obama's presidency, the Republicans decided to make a coordinated effort to bring this president down. Collectively, they would demean Obama's every move and make him out to be something other than American, even going so far as to suggest that he is an Islamic-loving terrorist out to destroy America. In the process of trying to bring Obama down, however, the only thing the Republicans managed to bring down was this country and their own credibility. Their approval rating is now lower than ever before.

Because of their hate for this man, for whatever reason, Republican and tea party supporters were more than willing to accept any conspiracy theory conjured up by not only the GOP, the tea party, private citizens, bloggers and bigots, but by wealthy donors as well. Ironically, it was McCain, himself, who corrected an audience member who called Obama an "Arab." What brought McCain down were the outrageous lies told by Sarah Palin (the worst choice ever for a vice presidential candidate), other party members, and shock jocks such as Limbaugh and Beck. What brought Romney down was not only his lies, but his blatantly disgraceful comment and disregard for 47 percent of the American people.

I believe the Republicans and the TPs will lose the 2016 presidential election because, if anything, they are even more self-destructive than ever. Besides being foreign-born, Ted Cruz is just too radical to be a viable presidential candidate, and there isn't one other Republican/TP who hasn't, at one time or another, shown their disregard for women, the poor, the elderly and our veterans with their votes, their continued threats and their willingness to shut this government down any time they don't get their way.

It must be unbearable for Republicans/TPs that a black man ("bi-racial") won the presidency twice over two white guys, so they are willing to do anything to destroy Obama. So far, their lies haven't worked. The majority of Americans know a falsehood when they hear it.

Will the Republicans and TPs ever learn from their mistakes? I seriously doubt it.

Since this rolled around again, another chance to remind everyone NO Republicans voted for the worst bill in the history of our country, Obamacare. Connecting obama and care together is in itself insulting, only outdone by AFFORDABLE CARE act.

True, it was an act...to re-distribute the wealth in America and put the feds in charge of a huge portion of our economy. But affordable and care - hah! What a joke. As story after story rolls out, we see Americans completely trapped. Insurance dumped, no way to get it back, no way to get more. Wasn't the plan to help 15% GET insurance rather than ruin the insurance of the other 85%?

But on the road to further destroying themselves, the islam siding Democrat POTUS and his lackey Kerry just put our country in bed with Iran.

The latest does nothing to stop Iran on it's never ending demonic quest to take Israel out, puts further stress on our stressed relationship with Israel under this POTUS and leaves the American Christian pastor still locked up in Iran.

It does concur with more of the Bible and the last days however. No thanks to us but God bless Israel forever.

“I have one question. If Obamacare is so great, why did congress and the president exempt themselves from having to take Obamacare?”

I have one answer – they didn’t.

"Also, why do blacks call themselves Afro-Americans..."

Not all do. Some are Jamaican-American or Cuban-American or etc etc.

For that matter, why do some people call themselves German-American or Italian-American? Perhaps it's because they are proud of their families cultural heritage and the impact it has had on our country? It also matters how the bloodline has changed over the years. Some can trace their entire extended family back to the "old country". I'd have to call myself a "mutt-American" with all my mixes.

Why does it matter as long as they act like Americans? Pay taxes, work a job, have families, etc.

I have one question. If Obamacare is so great, why did congress and the president exempt themselves from having to take Obamacare? Also, why do blacks call themselves Afro-Americans,? I guess I should say I am Cherokee-American or my deceased wife was Irish American. No, I call myself an American and that's it. Most all blacks have cross breed until there is no African blood in them. We all should start calling ourselves American and be proud of it. Cut out the argueing, lies and stop cutting each other down. For this country to stand tall we have to stick together. ome bitch about the Tea Party. I an a member and voted for some Democrats so I guess being a Democrat that I voted for makes them bad!!!.

"It'll be Hillary vs. Chris Christie in the next presidential contest."

That would almost be true if Christie didn't find his own party revolting. Don't be surprised if he flips, then he may run as a Dem. Think about that for awhile.

“…why this illegal alien was voted to office.”

Actually Canada (aka Rafael) Ted has not been elected president – and will not be.

“Like I myself don.t accept him as my president cause he didn.t do me any good.”

Ahh, how cute, but too bad, he is still YOUR president.

“As a senior citizan, the first time he seated in office no cost of living raise…”

Still whining about this four years later? You do know the president has absolutely nothing to do with the COLA for Social Security recipient’s – oh, wait, you don’t know that but still chose to look ridiculous by posting that comment.

“Hurray for the Republicans.”

Yeah, you go guys! Give us another $24 billion down the toilet because of the childish pique of a Canadian born son of a Cuban Communist.

“See you in2014 in office.”

Nope, ain’t gonna happen.

emmy Jones9: Sounds to me like you're the one who is mad about Obama not giving you any freebees. I am a senior citizen who moved here from a suburb of Chicago 7 years ago. I collect my S.S. check every month and am on Medicare. I worked every day since the age of 15, raised 3 children on my own for 17 years, and never asked for any kind of assistance from anyone. I also retired from my job at At&t and collect a monthly pension. So please, spare me your outrage, since you are the one complaining about no cost of living raise. This year, we did get it. So what's your beef?

With the Republicans (Bush) trashing the economy before he left office, the first few years of Obama's presidency was trying to keep this country from facing another Depression. Of course he couldn't raise senior's cost of living. The 2014 elections will be a forerunner to the 2016 elections. Don't expect the Republicans to make a good showing in either election. Democrats will win both, hands down. And I hope I'm still around when that happens to give YOU a good laugh! Hear that, emmy Jones?

Answering:

One-man, one-vote - We have the electoral college, adopted to equalize the power of states with larger vs smaller populations. This is one of the greatest of many great ideas of the Founding Fathers. Amazing when you add prayer for help from on high, what you come up with. We should try it. IT WOULDN'T INCLUDE 2000 PAGE BILLS NOONE READ.

Speaking of that. Those stupid Republicans DIDN'T VOTE FOR OBAMACARE. Remember that as you see obamacare imploding, won't ever be ready, obama sinking like a rock, people's lives destroyed, greatest healthcare on earth being trampled.

Also from those stupid Republicans. Fought a civil war to free the slaves, then fought the Democrats again to give those slaves more rights.

The Republican platform always has the right to live for unborn children in it. Yes, that's right. The GOP believes every child should be given the right to "LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" as they are guaranteed rather than snuff them out for the convenience of the Mother.

These are facts.

The GOP reminds me of the old classic horror movie, Frankenstein! They created their creature cobbled together from dead old ideologies, ideas and it has come home to haunt them, and be their own destruction!

"the republican party was too stupid to come up with original ideas to help this country."

You mean 'original ideas" like you have? Locally, Republicans, and democrats, and Independents, were all smart enough not to elect you to public office. And that is the way it is going to be in the future.

Oh, by the way, it is well past the date you had your meeting at the library. Since I have not seen you crowing about how it turned out, does that mean it was as big a failure as most believed it would be?

LOL

"Constitutionally, every person is allowed to cast their vote, so long as they are of age and registered. Isn't that one man, one vote?"

Funny how you "forgot" to include the most important qualification, being a citizen of the US.

It is a sad statement about the electoral system in the US when a person can be registered to vote and being registered in no way guarantees that the voter is a citizen of the US.

"And one man, one vote. No thanks. I'd rather do it the way we have always done it."

Do you mean the way the Republicans have always done it? Protect a lobbyist, get their votes, lie to the uninformed, well, they caught onto that. Buying elections don't work anymore, the American people have had enough of "bought elections". The sooner the Republicans realize that, the sooner they will get back to the White House. Keep ignoring the poor, the minorities, the women, and the immigrants, (you know the 47%) and you will remain on the sidelines.

"And one man, one vote. No thanks. I'd rather do it the way we have always done it."

Really? And what way have we "always done it?" Constitutionally, every person is allowed to cast their vote, so long as they are of age and registered. Isn't that one man, one vote? You know, the way we've always done it?

Oh wait, I forgot. You think the repubs/tps have every right to restrict and infringe on the rights of people to vote only because you know that if you purge registered voters off lists, and prevent minorities and college students from voting, your party may win an election. It didn't work during the last election, and the GOP's continued underhanded tactics won't work in the next election, either.

How ashamed the Founding Fathers would be to know that the Republicans are trying to prevent people (Democrats) from casting their Constitutionally-guaranteed right to vote.

"OKR.....King George first tried soaking the English to pay for the war with France. But with the prospect of losing all value in the tea at Cheapside, it was sent to Boston, accompanied by a tax somewhere between 1/25th and 1/8th what the King meant to tax English people at home. The King may have been persuaded that it was a good idea, the colonists taking it as an insult that they would even drink the rotting stuff. As for the current government shutdown fiasco, ego would be at play if any member on either side is acting out when they actually know better. That is the stuff of another, longer posting.

“There is no hatred from the conservatives.”

After reading your hate-filled vitriol for the past five-plus years I really had to laugh at that comment.

“And one man, one vote. No thanks.”

So you support … what?

".I'm concluding that the Boston Tea Party had more to do with the insult being inflicted upon the colonists than the relatively low taxes. How much of the recent shutdown is attributed to ego?"

The Tea Party was not due to egos and insults. It was due to England forcing the Colonists to pay for the costs of the British army defending the colonies, (which belonged to the crown-not the colonists) in a war against the French. England was raising the tax on tea as a way to get the money from the colonists.
The Colonists didn't believe they should pay for the army that protected the king's assets, and they also didn't agree with the premiss of being arbitrarily taxed without having a voice in the decision.

It would be similar to an employer expecting employees to pay for loss prevention efforts in the employers business.

"What brought Romney down was that obama's people threw the election."

Geez, here we go again! LA, when someone throws an election it's means they lose, forfeit, give up.....as in what Romney did! You don't have to believe me, see if you can get a copy of the book Double Down: Game Change 2012, even your Fox News buddies have admitted that "Romney" threw the election. How quickly the truth comes out when there is no longer any skin in the game.

In answe to your question, FLS, I never said I had Asian neighbors in Wauconda. My next door neighbors was a Black family, and two doors down from them was a Hispanic family. There were only five houses on this dead-end street, which ended at Slocum Lake. I owned the last house on that street, next to the lake. Everyone who lived on that street were friends. Jeez, you want names and addresses?

The only reason I mentioned having Black friends is because LA made such a big deal out of her having black friends which meant, according to her, there was no way she could be a racist.

I had forgotten about the Tea Partier with the gun and then they showed the gun but not the Tea Partier...who was black. Hahahaha!

Did you hear the one where Obama said he mispoke when he said "if you like your health care, you can keep it - if you like your Dr, you can keep him?" all 27 times.

Or this one. I didn't know about (you fill in the blank -Fast and Furious, Benghazi, NSA spying, etc, etc, etc). until I read it in the paper, just like you. Hahahaha!

The last one shows either he is the most inept POTUS in our history, he thinks libs are the stupidest people on earth to believe him or he is simply deranged.
