Guest Column: The plot against guns is there to see
Sandee Samoska
Kingman Resident

The "joke" on your Opinion page on Thursday, Jan. 17, has finally got me mad enough to write.

The Kingman Daily Miner, as well as every other mainstream newspaper and television news outlet, is so full of socialist-inclined writers and editors it is no wonder this country is full of people who would vote for lies and distortions rather than the truth. You and your fellow "journalists" have fed this nation's people a long line of lies to the point they believe them.

You would be happy to throw out the Second Amendment - but don't touch the First! Has it ever occurred to you that the government you help to destroy our Second Amendment rights will then have set the precedent for getting rid of your First Amendment rights?

No, of course not. The government wouldn't do that!

Really?

Why do you think this nation has never been invaded by a foreign army? They know that the majority of people in this country are not only armed, but know how to use those weapons.

Why is President Obama building up a government police force (known as the Homeland Security Force) and buying literally tons of ammunition for them? This is not a dreamed-up idea. It is fact. Check it out.

Now what do we need a Homeland Security force for? Well, they would be perfect for knocking on your door and taking your guns away. Think I am wrong? If the government (Obama) gets its way, they will take away "assault rifles."

Next, you will have to be fingerprinted to buy ammo (already started in California). After that, it will be very easy to stop all reloading supplies. After that, your guns would be worthless anyway.

What is the easiest way to take over a country? Disarm its citizens.

The Kingman Daily Miner may wish to remember what city, county and state you are writing in before you try to push this agenda onto the local people (the majority of which are gun owners and NRA members).

"So, chuckles, are you saying that Hitler was a great guy because his making it easier for nazi party members and supporters to have guns, and his persecution of Jews and other people was not that bad a thing? "

You never cease to crack me up. I pointed out the fact, truthfully indeed, that gun laws in Germany were much more strict before Hitler took office. Now suddenly, you got proven wrong and you are again twisting someone's word to make it fit your point. Face it, my statement was correct, gun laws were worse in Germany before Hitler. Yes, Hitler persecuted groups of people and that is a bad thing, and I have never said anything but that. Nice try though. LoLoL

so Obama will allow Americans to still keep hunting rifles? Great, even Hitler allowed that (but not without grousing about it - I think he suspected that Hermann Goering was sometimes more interested in hunting, and lining his pockets, than in war). The point of contention is to put some distance between American citizens and an obscene police state.

LOL. I love it when you use the "Hmmmmmm" of mystery.

No, chuckles, all I did was point out he persecuted other groups as well, and you know it. Now, can play your game too?

So, chuckles, are you saying that Hitler was a great guy because his making it easier for nazi party members and supporters to have guns, and his persecution of Jews and other people was not that bad a thing? Hmmmmmmmm........very telling, chuckles, very telling indeed.

I agree with you to a point. This paper, especially certain editors, push a hard right wing agenda. They do allow everyone's different opinions though, which is refreshing.

@FLS

So, you are saying Hitler did not persecute the Jews? Hmmmm.....

It is a fact, gun laws were much more strict before Hitler took office, sorry.

“You gun grabbers sure have questionable associates.”

You have certainly embraced that “gun grabbers” term. Of course it is inaccurate, but that is no surprise.

Obama said today:

“That means passing serious laws that restrict the access and availability of assault weapons and magazine clips that aren’t necessary for hunters and sportsmen, those responsible gun owners who are out there.

he said at the start of a meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and law enforcement officials from the Major Cities Chiefs Association and the Major County Sheriffs Association."

It's like the gun grabbers here keep saying, "he doesn't want to take ALL your guns away"

Wanna bet?

Sen Feinstien's bill lists 158 specific weapons and magazines banned for the common folks.

http://www.ibtimes.c"om/government-officials-can-still-own-assault-weapons-under-feinstein-bill-1039506

From the article:

"Weapons used by government officials and law enforcement will not be prohibited by the law proposed by the California Democrat, "

Big surprise.....Who didfn't see that coming? I am sure it would be tweaked if passed to make sure that private security gaurds for people like her would be allowed to have the banned weapons also.

Still think people like Feinstien don't want to disarm everyone other than themselves and their friends?

"The only ones he (Hitler) singled out were the Jews. And we all know what happened after that."

Yes folks, it is really come to that. Local leftist gun grabbers following the now popular national trend of defending Hitler. Yeah, yeah, everyone knows about the Jews. Do you think that gypsies, homosexuals, clergy, and anyone NOT a loyal party member was allowed to have guns?

But hey, many people have thought for years that gun grabbers have a lot in common with fascists.......So this is not a huge surprise.

The fact that you are silly enough to call yourself "Doing Research"always cracks me up.

So tell me, why has your "research" never led you to discover anything about the Japanese being in Alaska during WW II? Seem like your "research" was a bit lacking. People living there and the military sure considered it an invasion.

Let's go further back. The Atlantic ocean did not prevent the Bristish from invading and Washington and burning the White House in 1814, did it?

Tell me, when you are thinking great weighty thoughts to educate the rest of us with, do you wear a tweed jacket with elbow patches and smoke a pipe, professor?

World Net Daily? It has been posted here many times that WND exceeds only FAUX News and runs a close fourth to Limbaugh, Beck and Barton in telling lies. Posting anything taken from WND is just … well, sad and desperate.

“We euthanized Terri Schiavo…”

“WE” who? I know I didn’t have anything to do with her death – anyone else here involved in that? And you do know that her autopsy reveled her brain was the size of a walnut and had ceased functioning nearly a decade before the plug was pulled – right – you do know that?

@All Citizen Disarmament Advocates

Be of good cheer comrades. The Communist Party USA strongly supports any and all gun control and is with you 100%.

http://www.peoplesworld.org/fight-to-end-gun-violence-is-key-to-defending-democracy/

From the article at the party website:

"The Second Amendment is obsolete and now has been twisted to threaten the basic safety and security of all Americans. There is no basis for claiming this amendment was intended to permit unregulated personal acquisition of firearms, including amassing military weapons and private arsenals for "protection" from the government. No government, especially one that is new and fragile, has ever authorized citizens to arm themselves against it."

And of course, the commies stand squarely behind obama on his efforts. Why wouldn't they?

"It is not only, as Vice President Joe Biden said, "a moral obligation." We must rally behind President Obama to protect our safety and security and our basic democratic rights."

You gun grabbers sure have questionable associates.

Gun grabbers have let their true intentions be known many times. Some of my favorites are:

****************
"We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily -- given the political realities -- going to be very modest. . . . we'll have to start working again to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen the next law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal -- total control of handguns in the United States -- is going to take time. . . . The first problem is to slow down the number of handguns being produced and sold in this country. The second problem is to get handguns registered. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition-except for the military, police, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors-totally illegal.

Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc. which is now the Brady Campaign
***************

***************
""Brady Bill is "the minimum step" that Congress should take to control handguns. "We need much stricter gun control, and eventually we should bar the ownership of handguns except in a few cases," "

Rep. William L. Clay D-St. Louis, Mo
****************

****************
"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal." U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, December 1993"
***************

***************
"Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe." Diane Feinstein
***************

Feinstein thinks the right to "feel safe" from guns is in the Bill Of Rights somewhere.

@Sandee Samoskee

Many people just choose to believe that government has nothing but caring and concern for us. I have been doing much reading over the past year or so and know this is not so.

Lets take concealed carry permits for instance. One person here like to boast he has permits for 3 states. I don't think I would be bragging about having applied 3 times to government masters for permission to do something I was already entitled to do without their permission.

Years ago I had a concealed carry permit here in AZ. Then a got wiser. I sold that handgun to a private person, (or maybe it was stolen, I forget which, lol) replaced it with another and got rid of the card. That was when i also quit doing things like leaving my gun in the car when going to the post office. Why go there unarmed? The phrase "going postal" became popular because of postal employees going nuts and killing people, not because customers were doing it. I give “no guns signs” on the door no thought at all. Catch me if you can.

On the street, open carry, concealed carry, makes no difference to me. If someone spots another person carrying a gun, gets their panties in a bunch, panics and calls 911 because they are frightened, they really should seek professional help for their mental problem. Especially since open carry is legal.

How legal? Any restrictions? Here is a good link to find out all about the law in AZ:

http://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/arizona-gun-laws.html

A great quote I ran across recently was: “If you beg for permission to do something it’s already your right to do, you deserve to be told no.”

Sandee:
Hitler and Nazi Germany - about 26 similarities between it and where we are headed. Here are a few:

1.In 1935, under Hitler's rule, prayers ceased to be obligatory in schools. In 1962, The U.S. Supreme Court outlawed school prayer.

2.Hitler eliminated Christian holidays in the schools first by calling Christmas "Yuletide." Most American public schools now call Christmas vacation a "winter break."

3.Hitler took Easter out of schools and instead honored that time of year as the beginning of spring. It has likewise become common for schools in America to refer to time off at Easter as "spring break."

4.Hitler enticed thousands of pastors to promote paganism in their congregations.
Many congregations of today provide same sex marriages among other things expressly forbidden in the Bible.
.
5.Hitler was an environmentalist and vegetarian. The Nazi state frequently conferred blessings of Mother Earth/Father Sky in the marriage ceremony. We are overrun with environmentalists starting w/obama, schools celebrate Earth Day.
.
6.Hitler's holocaust killed between 8 and 11 million Jews and non-Jews. Americans have killed an estimated 60 million babies since abortion was legalized through the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973.

Since Hillary is in the news, a 2008 article from WND speaks of an abortionist who claims he destroyed 20,000 unborn children and once was Hillary's OB-GYN. He said Hillary believed he was doing God's work when terminating a pregnancy. That was our Secy of State.

7.Hitler euthanized 270,000 handicapped people. We euthanized Terri Schiavo and family could NOT stop it. Some states now don't wait for God but have Death w/Dignity Acts such as Oregon.

And SOO many more similarities. AND he took their guns.

People like THIS destroy our Second Amendment Rights and the lives of those around them:

http://www.kingmandailyminer.com/main.asp?FromHome=1&TypeID=1&ArticleID=54752&SectionID=1&SubSectionID=797

If you want to say that it's not guns that kill people, it's people that kill people, then you have to also accept that politicians don't make people want to ban guns, people using guns inappropriately make people want to ban guns.

Get off that high horse and help use that big ol' brain of yours to talk to your fellow gun owners and random people, talking up the importance of over the top gun safety and increased mental health funding if you want to make this issue go away.

I agree Sandee - I think Obama is trigger happy. It is funny how he blamed Mitt Romney for a quick reaction after the Benghazi murders. He wants to bask in the lime light of signing stricter gun laws all by himself. This is another time when he wants to imprint his wonderful self in the pages of history to remember him by. Instead of sitting down with the NRA and Congress and other factions that need to be a part of passing laws, he jumps the gun and signs laws. THIS is what our forefathers did not want to happen. The 2nd amendment is in place so that a tyrannical government will not over power the people in which THEY serve. President Obama is an elected official put in place by the people of the United States of America. He is showing signs of trying to disarm Americans and disarm political opponents. He is awfully close with dictators of the world and I hate to say it but I tend to think he likes the fact of disarming citizens. It is an alarming time when the leader of the free world is causing disarmament tactics all by himself. Very scary.

Sandee,

Well, I guess I applaud your passion.... but there are some really basic conceptual problems here:

Q) "Why do you think this nation has never been invaded by a foreign army?"
A: Geographic isolation. Have foreign armies ever invaded Canada or Australia? Funny thing about oceans.... they're good for that. Play Risk once and you'll understand how that works a little.

Q) "Why is President Obama building up a government police force (known as the Homeland Security Force) and buying literally tons of ammunition for them?"
A) Building up something Bush gave birth to? First, get some facts straight about this ever-evolving story - http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/ssabullets.asp
And second, learn about everything DHS does thanks to the Patriot Act I and II.

Q) Now what do we need a Homeland Security force for?
A) Because failures of numerous compartmentalized government agencies let things like 9/11 happen. It creates national standards and provides training so that you can protect the Hoover Dam or a Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington without significant gaps.

Q) "What is the easiest way to take over a country?"
A) Have it sell you all its debt, then let them default on their debt and slowly start to collect on real assets. When someone sells you their own weakness, you don't have to fight in such "conventional" ways. This has been a popular method since merchants in Genoa started financing government debt in the.... I think 17th century. Anyway, banker bailout is your problem here and you don't even know it.

I think that, regardless of politics, the KDM does a decent job in letting people express themselves. I think it's a 1st Amendment thing.

What a clever ruse the politicians have created. Can anyone tell me what they are now doing on...say...the national debt? Or Infrastructure? Or have they got us preoccupied? Just curious... that's all.

"What is the easiest way to take over a country? Disarm its citizens."

No, the easiest way to take over a country is to be voted in by uninformed citizens. Hitler was voted into power in Germany he didn't take over by force.

We're fortunate to live in a democracy, and we also have the world's most powerful military. Nobody's going to take over our country by force, but fascists could be voted in here just as easily as in Germany. Our best defense is to stay informed and vote intelligently.
