Letter: To all neo-liberals and neo-conservatives

I am tired; tired of patting your hand when you're scared of the boogyman; tired of covering my firearm with my coat to help you pretend you are not surrounded by guns in Arizona.

Perhaps you should try this simple technique that will actually be much more effective than my coat is. Cover your eyes with your hands. This way you cannot see our firearms, and we cannot see you, right? You can pretend to your heart's content that there aren't any guns here. You can feel safe that way. It worked for you as a child, perhaps it still will.

If covering your eyes does not make you feel safer, maybe you could run down and hide at the Mohave County Administrative campus. It is a gun-free zone. Oh wait, Lord Walker and his minions, the BOS, said you cannot come there unless you are on official business. Darn. Perhaps you could move to Washington, D.C.! Nope, the Supreme Court overthrew their handgun ban. Or how about your nearest national park? Sorry, Obama signed a law permitting carrying of firearms there too. Maybe you could all move back to California? Oh, that's right, there is a rapidly growing movement of lawful open-carry there too.

It just seems lately that your government has really been slacking off in their requirement to protect you from cradle to grave. But here is the really scary news, according to the Arizona DPS Web site, they have issued more than 152,000 concealed weapon permits, and more than 8,500 in Mohave County alone. That is one heck of a lot of scary guns lurking out there! And it is just going to get harder for you because it keeps being proven over and over that law-abiding citizens carrying firearms reduce crime every time. (Another inconvenient truth, Al Gore.)

Stop Picking on Neo !.

The terms 'liberal' and 'conservative' are dead. There is now only STATIST and LIBERTARIAN. the tyranny of 'the right' does not taste any better than the tyranny of the left. An (R) does not exempt ANYONE from criticism though a (D) certainly makes me wonder how you let your party go so far left.

After 17 years in Law Enforcement, I am very proud of Arizona's gun laws. Guess how many times, in those 17 years, I saw an assault happen in front of me?? How about an armed robbery, or home invasion?? There is no need to even expose your sidearm. With so many guns in this state, criminals never know who is going to step forward and stop them. I'm in favor of allowing concealed carry without permits. Those who carry concealed are either criminals or patriots, and no permit requirement or law is going to change that. (Not to say you can't be a patriot fi you don't carry). Now that Arizona has recognized self-defense as a right and redefined "brandishing", the criminals have even more to worry about. I know many who carry concealed out of "respect" for those that don't want to see all those guns out there, but don't fool yourself, they are out there!! I also know of people who have been saved by someone carrying a firearm. To each his own, just don't let the criminals be the only ones with guns.

YOU obviously have never lived, visited or watched news from L.A.

Nice try on the statistics though.

@ No Retaliation Needed:

What does gay marriage have to do with carrying firearms?

@ Olderand Wiser:

Oh for Pete's sake, no one is disarming citizens. The county's just keeping you from carrying weapons into its building. The state does that already, and it still issues CCW permits. I think it's a bit soon to be beating the "tyranny" drum.

@ Mr. Genius

What school did you go to? The City of Chicago has a much higher population than Kingman. The City of Chicago has a very large Gang problem, I doubt that all the gang symbols around Kingman can come close. The states that have gun control also have had some serious crimes. Perhaps if you have cable, just watch WGN, it is in Chicago. They give each night a breakdown of the latest murder victims, rapes etc.

@ No Retalation needed.

What school did you go to? If a state has gun control, dont refer to the grabbing numbers out of a hat. The truth is it has nothing to do with gun control, it is the individual on drugs and etc, that kill, rape, and commit robbery that use a gun and pull the trigger. It is not the gun, it is and always be the person. If you want better facts and figures get cable TV and watch WGN, they give them out all the time, just watch and learn!

@ Mr. Genius --

"...Kingman that has a higher crime rate than Chicago, LA or NYC..."

That's a joke, right?

Go here and pick the cities, then compare:

Get back with me when you've figured it out.

Unfortunately, Mr. No Retaliation, you are 100% dead wrong on your statistics. Actually it's Kingman that has a higher crime rate than Chicago, LA or NYC. Sorry to tell ya. The truth belies your claims.

You mean pay taxes? I imagine most people have been doing that for the last 12 months....or did you mean protest unfair taxation..

If you actually look into the 16th amendment it was never ratified. There is no law that says you have to pay taxes. The only law is when you do not pay armed people will show up and make you pay. Taxes are enforced by force.

This country was never a democracy, it was founded a republic and neither exist today, we are now a Oligarchy.
We are now number 8 on the worlds most free country list. Hong Kong is number one.

IF what i think is coming you will need a gun to stand any chance of surviving Think about the well over 40 million without jobs and we are still losing 500 to 800 thousand jobs a month. What do think will happen when 40 to 60 million people start getting hungry. Gun free zones is where they will go to get what ever they want. Most all mass shootings have been in gun free zones. Remember the bad guys will always have guns. The UK outlawed all guns and their gun crimes have gone way up. The bad guys no longer have to worry about getting shot when they rob and what ever.

nice, but sad,why rant with pride, most gun owners normaly exercise their right in private and even if we carry them(which I don't) it's really comes down to privacy and right of self defense if and all possible, and pliticians of all stripes know this so Randy sir who need let the elections show fruit and let the far left loony's and right wing neo-cons figure it out on thier own people like you don't help just run or vote and that in itself will get the attention,

First step toward tyranny: disarming citizens.
Old cliche, but true, never-the-less: "Turn in your guns, and the only ones armed will be the outlaws.
To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt..."Speak softly, but carry a big gun!"
Aside to Jeanne: Indeed, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, without question. However, some opinions are going to be wrong.

What is so difficult about comprehending the reality of we Contitutionalists, who took an oath to defend the ENTIRE Constitution?
Pull your head out and gather some new information once in a while.

anonyamous anonymous,
What amuses me is your total lack of intelligence... and futile attempts at humor or personal attacks on "Citizens."
You really need a NEW argument. You keep saying the same old crap on every post without verification. Whereas, all positions held by the American Patriots can be found in our Constitution "and ALL Laws made in pursuance thereof.."
Why don't exert all that wasted energy on the RIGHT cause?

OK, OK, we all get the point of your rants about carrying your guns. Will you patriotic Second Amendment people also show the SAME degree of support for the 16th Amendment around April 15th? After all, it is part of the SAME Constitution which you claim to support.

Funny I have never paid any attention one way or the other to someone with a gun on their hip, or ever wondered whether they had one hidden, always had better things to think on in my life, but hey if a gun on your hip, under your coat gives you a ego boost, feeling of security, its no skin off my nose, but businesses for ages have had the constitutional right to ban them from their properties, nothing new in these laws, nor would it be in governmental buildings doing the same, guess if one is "law biding citizen" rules, laws are all part of civilization, but hey if some folks like to live in fantasy land they are gunslingers from the old west, again what you eat will not make me fat! I have had guns all my life, unlike some I never got a "thrill or tingle" from handling them as some do, or needed it to enhance my manhood, or lack thereof, psychologists have written many theories on folks who have such a deep insecurity. I will say it till I die, having a gun on ones hip is no gurantee one will get it out in time to beat the criminal to the draw who has no morality, no concious to shoot first, at mere greed, sinful desire for what ever reason, on the other hand that gun on the hip gives a false sense of security, since if I was a criminal it appears to me, they would want you to carry it unconcealed, since it might make them decide to either rob your or not, if they decide to, they merely shoot you and then take what they want, my view is a concealed weapon might be viable in a situation like that but can you draw fast enough to shoot on a already drawn and pointing gun from a robber? If you are as fast as Wild Bill HIcock maybe, but he too died shot in the back in a card game! In fact if one does much reading on the old west, it was not the fastest draw who usually ended up winning a gun fight it was the one who did so calmly, shooting with accuracy, Wild Bill Hicock killed a man in a gunfight where his opponet shot 5 times to his one, the difference was he knelt aimed shot while the wanna-be gunfighter shot from the hip wildly and died to a single shot to his heart! I am amused by you rambo wanna-be's, joining these minute men clubs, with their aryan nations links, or the wanna-be living in the old western culture of gunfighter, but hey its a free country, be a looney tune if you want to be, embarrass yourselves with pitchforks on slings and go to jail if you wish, am sure them 3 hots and a cot might do you some good!

If everybody gets a gun and the crime in Kingman drops down to zero, how many pawn shops do you think would have to close? And don't try to say that the pawn shops don't buy stolen goods, because I have personally already bought back a powertool of mine from a pawnshop that still had my name on it.

I would tell these easily offended whiny wimps this, if you are afraid of guns, you support gay marriage, you don't like conservatives in a mostly republican state, you want someone to hold your hand when you feel threatened or offended, and the best you could offer in response to an armed criminals attack on you or your family is to hide and try not to notice that your family is looking at you as someone they can't rely on for protection, then move to Illinois, New York, Washington D.C. or California where you can feel at ease. Oh wait, the latest statistics show that the states with gun control have higher crime and a higher murder rate, well I guess you better think about moving to another country.
