Kingman Letter: Let's follow this path

There is something seriously wrong in our country! We have strayed so far from our origins that it's going to take a very strong, smart president to lead us back.

I'm talking about a real leader who will cut through all of the B.S. and self-serving crap we are getting out of Washington, D.C., and pull us back together as a whole. Obama has shown over the last four years that he doesn't have the skills to do this, and Mitt Romney wasn't the guy either. Our Congress is full of self-serving fools and the media are now making news instead of reporting it. There are no more real investigative reporters, digging up and reporting the truth; they all want to put a spin on it. I don't care what party you belong to, does anyone think we are on the right path? So what do we need to do?

First - Congress works for us. Cut their pay, benefits and time off, eliminate pork barrel spending and add-ons to bills that have nothing to do with the original bill. Every member of Congress must vote on all bills. We need to get serious with Congress!

Second - Cut the federal spending and start moving programs back to the states. Congress can establish the standards that must be met, but leave the means to the states. This includes Social Security, welfare, health care, etc.

Third - Tax all imports and reduce fees for U.S. companies that produce in the U.S. to bring jobs back to the U.S. Don't let the imports have an unfair advantage.

Fourth - Secure our borders, then come up with a plan to register everyone in this country. They don't need to become citizens, just get them registered, then we can work on a fair and humane disposition. I've had enough of this divisive, do-nothing, self-serving federal government!

“When was the last time you picked up a book anyway?”

I don’t know about NC, but I feel he is also a reader. But I would like to respond to Ms Athens (who refuses to respond to virtually anyone) as to reading.

My reading covers a wide gamut. Currently I am reading – “Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero” by Chris Mathews – “Black Ops: The Rise of Special Forces in the CIA, the SAS and the Mossad” by Tony Geraghty – “Edison and the Electric Chair” by Mark Essig – “The Last Camel Charge: The Untold Story of America’s desert Military Experiment” by Forrest Johnson. So far this year I have read close to sixty books including “Barack Obama: The Story” by David Maraniss ) – “Fire and Fury: The Allied Bombing of Germany 1942 – 1945” by Randall Hansen - “One Mountain Thousand Summits: The Untold Story of Tragedy and True Heroism on K2” by Freddie Wilkinson and “The Route 66 encyclopedia” by Jim Hinckley, along with the pathetic “The Great Destroyer” by David Limbaugh.

And of course as a writer of crime fiction I read many mystery novels and true crime books on my Kindle. Each day I read, at minimum, ten newspapers and visit numerous websites as part of my job.

Reading and writing are the essence of my life and to have Ms Athens think that she is the only person who reads on here is just … well, you know. True readers have many books in progress at any one time because there is so much to read and so little time.

Orly Taitz the looney tune Birther Queen looses another court battle related to her obsession with President Obama! I have always found it amusing this crazy lady and her fan club truly believe in such a lunatic conspiracy! But then one can easily figure the bee in her bonnet, Jewish immigrant, naturalized citizen not native born, can never run for the office she thinks a native born man sits in, her religion explains her xenophobia, she seems obsessed with Obamas fathers muslim connections and feebly tries to connect it to him even though ample evidence exists he is Christian I mean they cannot have it both ways one group claims he has a black radical Christian preacher as his mentor and others claim he is a scret muslim!

Sorry Linda, but I did not print a lie about you. About half of the misinformation you post are word for word copies of chain emails. You know it, I know it, and now every body else knows it.

Can't anyone writing letters to the KDM get past this amateur-hour ideology stuff that a trained chimp could knock down? I'd rather see some critical thought and well-placed reason thrown out there that stirs discussion and gets people contemplating how to make our country better.

Meanwhile all that's ever in here is this kind of stuff. I mean really.... things like this waste space. Where are the letters provoking questions that aren't easy to answer? Letters that require taking a moment and doing some long-term evaluation of benefits and costs?

And sure, those think tanks are just vehicles for business-sponsored policy projects, but it's at least based on something more than an e-mail forward.

....and now I'm reminded why I moved.

One thing which truly never changes the right wing rants, raves, preaches doom and gloom, the end is coming as if god passed his son jesus and gave them some special power on when the end is coming! They do stay perpetually angry, bitter, unhappy, miserable! I guess we few happy folks ought to pity them, one can just imagine how much stress all that hate, anger is doing to their heart valves and arteries!

Try reading a book once in awhile. You might be shocked by the fact, picked correctly, they are filled with wonderful information like Faith of the Fatherless I am reading right now.

There's 3 sources of thoughtful conservative ideas for you to ignore. You're welcome.

You mean the Heritage Foundation that initially proposed the mandate that every American must purchase health insurance back in the 1980s? The mandate that was embraced by the Republicans and demanded as part of the ACA until the president agreed to it and then it became an abomination upon our nation?

No thanks, I will pass on “thoughtful conservative ideas” – a true oxymoron if there ever was one.

Point by point here, Paul:

1) Unanimous vote? Seriously? Most bills don't even get a supermajority. Even the Patriot Act didn't get unanimous support. Requiring a 100% vote means that any single legislator can hold up a bill for their own interests, and so each bill would not be lean and streamlined like you imagine - it would have 435 add-ons to make each politician happy. Meanwhile "tough decisions" (of which there are few these days) would never, ever pass.

2) So you move the financing burdon to the States, huh? So in AZ your Fed taxes of $400 would become state taxes of $500. Why? AZ received more Federal money than it pays in. True story!

3) Hawley-Smooth Tariff. Google it and you'll find out how this same idea made the Great Depression Greater than it had been initially. Or rather you could have paid attention to the most educational part of Ferris Bueller's Day Off....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKfrg6oIjh0

4) National registry.... so you want to spend money on a necessarily Federal program (contradicting your point #2) to humanely "dispose" people?

C'mon - and these aren't even original bad ideas?

Why aren't you people at least reading blog posts from Conservative think tanks to get better ideas?

“I basically never got chain e-mails.”

In light of your cut and paste history from loon e-mails that even I have received I must call – as one person has told me multiple times – BS on that statement.

“Of special interest and think I posted it elsewhere, Health and Human Services just inserted another surprise into obamacare as they can do that the way they set it up.”

Yep, you posted it and it was debunked as usual.

“And then there are the DC death panels for added woe.”

No matter how many times you post it will never be factual.

And it alwas fascinatiing that no matter how people tell you your are wrong you never repsond - other than to post the same garbage again.

You should spend your time more wisely, like reading a decent book. Try "Faith of the Fatherless" by Paul Vitz. The Psychology of Atheism. Goes a long way in explaining how men turn out like your savior obama.

Heard the latest? Obama is throwing yet another used woman under the bus, this time Susan Rice. Through with her, still not telling us where he was all the hours he disappeared as our four in Benghazi died, the left has come out with Susan Rice and her husband own Transcanada Oil stock, made $20,000 from it last year.

A conflict of interest, that would keep her from being Secretary of State. He used her, now hangs her out to dry as he does all the women he uses. Caroline Kennedy, Oprah Winfrey, the two women in his cabinet who left saying they were treated like doormats....the list is long. He had no respect for his own Mother or Grandmother either.

Linda, you have really got to stop reading and believing those chain emails you keep seeing. Obama has done nothing of the sort with holidays.

Mike:
Yes, that would be obamacare. That is only the beginning however. Consider yourself lucky compared to how it will hit others.

Of special interest and think I posted it elsewhere, Health and Human Services just inserted another surprise into obamacare as they can do that the way they set it up.

You see, normally when a bill is voted on it is as it is presented. Obamacare has been designed so Health and Human Services can add and subtract to it at their whim and without any votes.

So they already have. Fifteen to 24 year olds, in 2014, will have to pay 45% more than originally stated. My gosh! Do you think they are catching on that there is no money to pay for this ungodly behemoth?

But the penalty is less than the increase so many of those young people will simply pay the penalty and opt out. If they get sick or have an accident, they can buy it right then because there is no pre-existing condition keeping them from it. Only satan could have devised this plan.

The next group up, 25 to 34 year olds have now been upped 38% more than originally thought.

So in their great wisdom, obama and liberals have strapped this monster to the backs of the young and the elderly since they ripped $700 Billion out of Medicare to pay for it, much of which will come down on the backs of Dr's and payments for medical devices.

Dr's with large Medicare clientele will become real estate agents, others will dump their Medicare patients to stay alive and care for the elderly will be a disaster. And then there are the DC death panels for added woe.

As a supposed “student of American history” you, of all people, should be aware that the president and vice-president flying on different aircraft is and has long been a mandate by the Secret Service.

Would you be able to provide the names and positions of all (or any) of these people?

“He has thrown out Christian holidays and celebrations at the White House but has made sure he celebrates muslim holidays.

Can you please provide proof of those assertions?

“He has already stated, in a bind, he will back the muslim nation.”

Completely wrong and you have been told this numerous times.

I fear you know very little of factual American history.

You had better get used to the word socialism as it is what the left wants...and you must be afraid to admit you do too.
Now they are actually advocating taking personal property of the rich and where will it go from there.
Paul
You see what I told you about the left crawling out from under their rocks.
Now obumer has invited Romney to lunch which I don't understand but it is probably to remind Romney many times how obumer won and he lost or it could be that obumer has no idea how to govern and he thinks he may learn something from a real leader.
