Reader Letter: Honoring the 2nd Amendment

I, Gianluca Zanna, former legal immigrant from Rome, Italy, now naturalized American and proud citizen of the state of Arizona, a law-abiding citizen, a peaceful and not violent man until illegal violence will be used against me and my fellow Americans.

I stand in front of God as my witness, on the date of the 27th of December 2012 AD, I pledge my life, my wealth and my honor that I will never comply to any gun confiscation and I will never surrender any of my guns, rifles or weapons guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution and by the Arizona Constitution, to any federal, state, local or foreign agency that will try to enforce any unconstitutional illegal act with the purpose to deny me of my God-given right of self defense.

I am aware of the risks that I may incur for my life because of this decision. I understand that the odds to survive any act of non-compliance are against me, and this is a serious matter, but so it is my dignity, my liberty as an American and my 2nd Amendment.

In case of a gun confiscation, not only I will not comply with it, but I intentionally will refuse to hide or separate myself from my guns, and I will bear them as I normally do every day of my life in the great state of Arizona.

So help me God.

Didn't you learn anything from the overthrow of the Egyptian dictator? The protesters were successful because they had the hearts of the military!

A really BIG reason among others to treat our military with love and compassion!

At this moment in time , this president does not have the respect of our military...SO, "big O" had better not try to cram too many regulations down our throats, lest he face the same result as Mubarak!

Ah yes, it never fails to bring a laugh. The non-sensical analogy always used by brainless liberals. You know that no one would advocate that. But please, lets see you dig up a quote from anyone anywhere who at any time has advocated for that.

Yes.....no one could possibly beat the mighty U.S. military........Oh, wait a minute. Tell that the people in Afghanistan who have been making our military look like clowns since Day One without using high tech weaponry. We have not defeated them yet, have we? You do realize that ten minutes after we leave that they will be taking over, right?

I am REALLY looking forward to your explanation for our failure there.

Just a thought for the Anti Gun nuts out there.....FBI checks for all of 2012 totaled 19.6 million, an annual record and an increase of 19 percent over 2011!

Yep, even if half were approved, there are not enough Officers out there to round them up.

A True Law-Abiding Citizen Obeys the Laws
It is every True American's job to disobey an unconstitutional law.
99% of what the government does today is unconstitutional.
Article one section 8 of the constitution list what the government can do. Not on the list they can not do it, but they do because the people do not know the constitution and are not willing to stand up for their rights. Also in the constitution it says congress has to meet at least once a year. Put in there because there was so little for them to do.

i agree...

I know that it would be a violation of our constitutional rights, i was saying that the attitude that "a true law abiding citizen obeys the laws" is a shameful and un-american one and his views are the ones that make me sick to my stomach about the direction of our country. in my opinion, every law abiding citizen should be able to own any weapon a police officer is allowed to carry.

Seems to me only ones enjoying this fervor of fearmongering on gun confiscation is the gun manufacturers, sellers/gunshops, since any law enacted by any state would come under scrutiny of the US Supreme court which lately has struck down all these gun restriction laws by various states, again fearmongering is amusing, when that ATF agent is in your front door with a writ of confiscation then and only then ought anyone worry, till then get your panties unwaded silly ones, no one is coming to get your guns, no black UN helicopters are coming to take over America!

Any law enacted to disarm law abiding citizens would be illegal thus I stand with the writer. I’m also pretty sure any attempt to do so would be political suicide by any standard and as Rick O'Shea says would surely lead to a civil war, none of which this economy could handle. I could surmise that there would be several countries in the wing just waiting for civil unrest to hit. The recent guns for food drives in California should open several people’s eyes. “Rocket Launchers”, I mean seriously, does the government even have a clue as to what’s out there and the size of the can of worms they would open? I’ll just say, for every weapon I have registered that would be required to turn in, I have two others that are unregistered to replace it.

“The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called ‘assault weapons’ ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its ‘lame duck’ session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police . . .

“Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called ‘assault weapons’ but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.”

TTAG’s sources tell us there will be two bills: one for semi-automatic rifles, lever guns, shotguns and handguns with certain features (e.g., threaded barrels) and one for ammunition magazine capacity.

Mags would be limited to 10 rounds and owners of existing magazines holding more than 10 rounds would have to register them with the state police.

One [non-ISRA] gun guy on the front lines in the Land of Lincoln tells TTAG that the odds of the bills going through are 50 – 50. He advises gun owners both in and out of state to call Senate President Cullerton at 217 782 2000 and/or find another legislator to pester at ilga.gov.

“If gun owners around the country melt the phone lines in the next three days we can push this thing back . . . that would be a tremendous morale boost ahead of federal legislation.”

Oh by the way, nobody is going to be confiscating your guns even if some gun control measures are passed. But is sure is interesting how the supposed law-abiding amongst us are the first to say they won't abide by certain future hypothetical and very unlikely laws that they don't agree with.

Our bloody legally elected Government got us into the Vietnam War (during which I served 21/2 years overseas with an honorable discharge) based upon a pack of lies. Our legally elected Government has ravaged our historic civil rights based upon the 911 terror attacks which they knew about years beforehand, displaying this through their collusively-produced films (and may the still-wide-eyed amongst you on this point please go play with your cat or something, and leave this discussion to the worthy). The lies, treachery, drug smuggling, etc. which have constituted our legally elected Government negate your comments, Anson and LAC. I have had the experience of standing before a judge who asked me, "Do you understand your rights?" while before, during, and afterwards the legally elected Government violated my rights in criminal ways. And I can be very coherent here. Just watch me. God bless you, Luca. You talked way too long at that original Tea Party gathering downtown, hogging the citizen's space for participating. But God bless you for standing on rights for which men staked their honor and their lives. Shame, shame upon those who would give it all away based upon naivete and willing blindness to the principles involved, and what people who have been criminally abused by this Government can and do tell them.

Oh, I wasn't aware there were any gun confiscation laws about to be passed. Can you please tell me SPECIFICALLY what they are? I will happily write to my congressperson and Senator to have them vote against such a policy.
